A better way to direct travel.

Chicago’s O’Hare Airport became the busiest in the country in 2019, serving over 83M travelers. With O’Hare’s expansion of 35 new gates and ever-changing travel guidelines, it’s become more important than ever to share current information with incoming travelers. While respectively smaller, Midway Airport still sees over 18M passengers each year and is one of the largest hubs for Southwest Airlines. Our shared goal was to modernize all aspects of their indoor and outdoor message displays with programmable LED signage.

The Solution

With Daktronics, we developed custom display solutions for O’Hare and Midway Airports allowing them to share information with their millions of travelers each year. Outside, programmable LED displays replaced static interstate signage and simplified traffic management, road condition advisories, and traveler alerts. Our durable, full-color displays allow airport administrators to update information with ease. Concourse and ticketing screens inside of both airports were upgraded further simplifying travel in Chicago’s airports.

The Result

O’Hare Airport and Midway Airport now have state-of-the-art electronic message displays that give valuable information to travelers, and also promote Chicago and all the great events happening in the city. This project has proven effective at both airports, allowing passengers to access all relevant info upon arrival.
